Mission Work in Japan

You might wonder why we chose Japan for our mission work when many missionaries typically head to countries like the USA, Europe, Canada, and Australia. While these nations already have a strong Christian presence, the need for committed missionaries remains everywhere. However, Japan presents a unique and vital mission field. It ranks as the second most unreached people group in the world. Although Japan is materially prosperous, spiritually, it resembles a wilderness. This profound spiritual need makes Japan an essential area for our mission efforts, perhaps more so than in countries with established Christian communities. Moreover God’s will is very important in our life and in our ministry because Jesus very clearly said in Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”.

Know More. Why Japan?

Missionaries David Balan and Mrs. Joanna Balan served in the northern parts of India, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, for over five years. They successfully pioneered two house churches in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In 2015, while ministering in the region near Majhgawan on the MP and UP border, they felt a distinct call from God to extend their mission work to Japan. Consequently, in 2017, our organization sent them to join the mission in Japan with YWAM.

Since arriving in Tokyo in 2017, they have engaged in various types of ministry including evangelism, church ministry, crusades, and discipleship. Recently, they established the Tokyo Tamil Church, catering to the Tamil-speaking community in Tokyo. This is the first Tamil church in the city.

God has blessed them with three kids Jonathan Chrisylton, Shingen, Alicia Carmichael. Together they are doing His work. Please Pray for them!
